Password reset form showing blank screen

On some stores the password reset is showing a blank screen when users try and reset a password.
Checking the error log will show an SMTP error.
Workaround: Add an SMTP configuration to the site’s web.config with the correct SMTP server.

Permanent fix is coming in version 2.5
